Reading room for catalogs, reference publications and bibliography

Floor 2, Room 201

The structure and the content of the core, subsidiary and specialized collections are reflected in the electroniс catalog and image catalog  of the Library.

The electronic catalog comprises bibliographic records of every type of materials acquired by the Library since 1990.

OPACs provide various modes of document retrieval:

- by bibliographic elements, e.g. by author, title, collective author (organization), event, type of literature, publication year, etc.;

- by topic (thematic and subject search), by keywords, thematic rubricator, or subject headings.

Advanced search combines the bibliographic and thematic search elements.

Search results are presented as order forms.

Delivery time varies from 30 minutes to several days depending on the depository location. The ordered materials are reserved for the user during 5 weekdays with an option to prolong reservation.

Users shall use printed documents on the library premises exclusively, but may copy and scan them.

Copying and scanning is provided under the RF law on the intellectual property rights (The RF Civil Code Part 4).

Save your time and Order online via our www-site (see details). In case you are not the Library user yet, we will reserve your user card number and generate a password to order materials.

If you cannot find the document you need in RNPLS&T’s e-catalog, we recommend to check the Russian Union Catalog for sci-tech literature in the collections of other libraries. Searching in Russian Union Catalog is accomplished in the same way as in the e-catalog.

Image-catalog (scanned copies of alphabet catalog cards) contains scanned copies of documents acquired by the Library before 1990.

It comprises:

o    National books image catalog;

o    Foreign books image catalog;

o   National periodicals image catalog;

o   Foreign periodicals image catalog;

o   Unpublished translations image catalog.

 Search in the image catalogs by keywords or by box-splitters like you would search in catalog drawers.

Search result is delivered as a catalog card to be printed out as an order form

Please address your any questions on catalogs and search methods to the reading room desk bibliographers.
