Reading room for ecology, priority science and technology developments

The reading room was established in 2010 on the basis of the collections for physics, mathematics and computer science. Beside the fundamental disciplines, to provide information support of the program of the Russian economy innovative development, the acquisitions cover the following priority areas: energy efficiency and energy saving; nuclear technologies; telecommunications; transport and space systems; strategic information technologies; electronics; material sciences and ecology.

In the reading room, open access is provided to:

- over 300 titles of journals published within the recent 5 years and classified;

- proceedings of research institutes and universities;

- preprints by the Russian Academy of Sciences institutes and other academic institutions;

- ODs on Russian regional ecological situation.

The subsidiary collection of the reading room numbers over 75,000 entries, including books and periodicals, conference proceedings, reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, theses in ecological information, VINITI express-information on the legal issues of environmental protection, and ecological regional publications.

Users also get access to:

- full-text and bibliographic databases of the third parties (see). You will get access to the full-texts of journal articles being published by the globally recognized science publishers, to digital resources being distributed by leading subscription agencies and learned societies;

- virtual reading room to view the full texts of dissertations in the RSL’s E-library.

 Publications arrived to the reading room within the week are on display. Thematic displays and exhibitions are also produced.

In the reading room the users:

- retrieve information in bibliographic, full-text and address and reference databases of the Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology;

- search information in ecology and efficient nature management in Ecological section of RNPLS&T’s www-site ;

- use the Internet information resources;

- may use their personal devices: laptop, etc.;

- print materials;

- scan documents free of charge (individual articles and fragments);

- use advanced system to view microforms and make their copies;

- use self-service terminals;

- get information on new acquisitions (provided on weekly and monthly basis).
