5G: Fifth generation in touch

   

 

The materials of the exhibition consider 5G mobile communication technologies, reflect the principles of construction and basic requirements for the creation of 5G networks, show the distinctive features of 5G networks from previous generations of cellular communication standards, present the most promising applications of 5G in high-tech industries and the main challenges that hinder the widespread dissemination of this technology.

Abstract: Modern approaches to signal processing that allow increasing the bandwidth of radio communication systems are considered. Information about digital signal processing algorithms for CDMA and MIMO systems is presented. The presented mathematical models of the communication channel can be used to develop new effective algorithms for digital signal processing for promising wireless communication systems. The issues of computational complexity of signal processing algorithms, methods of its calculation and reduction are considered.

Abstract: Nowadays we hear a lot about 5G and are increasingly thinking about what it is and how it will change our lives. Some smartphone users have already seen a small 5G icon on their displays. 5G is the latest mobile communication standard, the fifth generation and successor of 4G, also known as LTE. Phones running on 5G can exchange data faster and better. In addition, more devices can interact simultaneously at 5G frequencies. 5G will not completely replace the existing 4G right away. But it will illustrate the perspective of why efforts are already being made to develop and implement 6G. All smartphone companies are doing their best to launch 5G-enabled devices and connections.

Abstract: The speed of mobile Internet can vary significantly depending on the area. Abstract: The article discusses the problems of the development of 5G generation communication. Currently, there are four distinct generations of cellular communications in the world and in Russia. The development of each subsequent generation of communication with the improvement of technical and economic capabilities and the spread of dominant standards occurred approximately every 10 years. The author presents a material in which it is shown that the new generation of 5G networks in the future will expand opportunities in many spheres of life: these are unmanned vehicles and aircraft, telemedicine devices, control systems and monitoring sensors, household appliances and control devices for "smart home", "smart city", etc. Currently, the main obstacles to the development and mass introduction of 5G generation communications in Russia are an acute shortage of radio frequency resources, the need for large investments by companies, as well as insufficient research on the impact of ultrahigh frequencies on living organisms and the environment, which, in turn, requires solutions to administrative, military, environmental, biological, medical, technical and economic problems.

Abstract: The relevance of the introduction of fifth-generation technologies in the practice of mobile communications is shown. Possible implementation options are analyzed. Abstract: This article raises the issue of prospects for the development of 5G networks in Russia, China, the USA and Europe. Currently, there are four distinct generations of cellular communications in the world and in Russia. There is a need for a significant overhaul of the mobile network system: such efforts are commonly referred to as the architecture of the future fifth generation (5G), and large-scale initiatives have been launched around the world to address this problem. The fact that all new offerings are labeled as 5G has created a lot of confusion about what 5G really is. The purpose of this article is to shed light on the current state of the definition of 5G architecture and trends regarding the necessary technologies in Russia, the USA, China and Europe. The key contribution is as follows: (1) the requirements for 5G defined by various global initiatives are analyzed, highlighting the similarities and differences in the development of the 5G network in Russia, China, the USA and Europe; (2) the current trends in technology are discussed, showing that there is a broad consensus on the key factors contributing to the development of 5G in these countries; (3) efforts are made to understand the new concepts that need to be developed, relying on auxiliary tools to meet the desired requirements.

Abstract: The pace of development of telecommunication technologies is increasing every year. More and more devices are using wireless information transmission technologies. This increases the load on the network, which leads to an increase in the delay of data transmission, a decrease in the speed of information transmission. The development of telecommunication technologies has also affected Internet traffic, as well as the development of the automated industrial production sector (communication with industrial robots, i.e. digitalization of production and the development of a smart factory), the healthcare industry (remote healthcare), the transport industry (intelligent transport systems, high-speed trains), the energy sector (smart power grids), together this leads to increased requirements for speed, low latency and reliability of information transmission. The evolution of data transmission systems from 4G to 5G is designed to meet the ever-increasing requirements for wireless communication networks. However, one of the current problems in the study of fifth-generation networks is the high cost of equipment necessary for the study of new protocols, debugging algorithms, optimizing network architecture, organizing network topologies and applying new network solutions is the main obstacle in the study of the radio channel for most laboratories and research centers. In this regard, the transition from field experiments that require large economic costs and time resources to simulation modeling using the NS-3 network simulator is a cost-effective solution in the study of fifth-generation networks. This article presents the features of traffic and the results of modeling data transmission of ultra-reliable traffic with low latency in 5G networks (URLLC) using the NS-3 network simulator.

Abstract: The patent landscape "5G/IMT-2020 Cellular Mobile Communication Networks and their subsequent modifications (6G)" was developed by the FIPS Project Office together with Rostelecom PJSC. Abstract: The problem of increasing spectral efficiency and increasing the number of subscribers in promising 6G communication systems is currently being actively investigated all over the world. In 3G, 4G and 5G generation communication systems, this problem is solved mainly through the use of MIMO technology and orthogonal multi-user access (OMA) methods. However, future 6G systems have such high requirements for spectral efficiency, noise immunity and capacity that orthogonal OMA access can no longer provide the necessary capacity of the communication system with a given noise immunity and spectral efficiency. Therefore, the use of non-orthogonal methods of multi-user access (NOMA) is considered. The article shows that the main direction of research in order to create 6G systems is the search for completely new reception algorithms with low computational complexity and the search for appropriate new signals, the reception of which is possible with minimal losses in noise immunity using simple algorithms. The requirement to use simple reception algorithms is due to the increased requirements for the speed of information transmission in 6G systems.

Abstract: For the first time in the Russian scientific and technical literature, in the volume of one book, a complex of theoretical and practical aspects of the design and organization of production of various kinds of radio-electronic devices, devices and systems, the common and main distinguishing feature of which is the high speed of data processing and transmission, is considered in detail and consistently.

In high–speed digital circuits that form the basis of the hardware of modern high-speed electronic devices, short edges of processed and transmitted signals lead to the appearance of many undesirable effects - the developers of such devices in practice deal with digital signals distorted beyond recognition, which are also transmitted against the background of multiple interference.

Since many of the issues included in this book have not previously been considered in standard training courses, practical engineers often treat the effects manifested in high-speed digital devices as something mystical, therefore in their professional environment they call them "black magic effects", meaning that at high frequencies something unusual and inexplicable is happening with high-speed devices.

In most cases, these effects do not manifest themselves in "low" and "medium" performance devices, but with an increase in processing speed and data transfer speed, they have actually become an obstacle to improving the performance of modern information and communication and telecommunications systems. The monograph examines the main theoretical and practical aspects of designing high–speed electronic devices "in a complete chain" - from the top system level of the hierarchy to the level of basic elements and boards.

Abstract: The article discusses the problems in the organization of a new generation of 5G mobile communication networks. The distinctive features of technological and architectural solutions of 5G systems and networks in comparison with previous generations of cellular communication standards, such as 4G, are given. The existing limitations in the implementation and implementation of the new IMT-2020 standard are considered. The main requirements for the characteristics of 5G systems are reflected, as well as cloud, support, computing and other technologies on which they will rely. It is shown that the virtualization technology of network functions guarantees a flexible redistribution of network resources between differently configured user modes. The variants of non-autonomous and autonomous 5G system architectures implemented at the early stages of the development of 5G networks are considered. It is noted that ambitious scenarios for the use of 5G require more powerful data forwarding planes that provide more effective support for heterogeneous networks, multipath communication, network storage and implementation of operator policies. The following are described: Nokia's proposals for further development of 3GPP 5G specifications; Huawei's technological developments; Intel microchips for the 5G standard; MIMO antenna systems and the need to use antenna bifarming technology to reduce mutual interference of devices in networks of the IMT-2020 standard. The economic benefits that will be obtained as a result of the introduction of 5G services are given. In conclusion, the expected capabilities of the new promising generation 5G networks are presented.

Abstract: The technology of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is considered within the framework of 3GPP standardization. The need to introduce new technologies of non-orthogonal multiple access is caused primarily by the spread of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the prospect of mass connection of subscriber devices to new wireless networks (5G and 6G), many times larger in terms of connectivity in existing networks. Two main directions of NOMA development are identified – with power separation and with code separation. During the standardization of 3GPP, the attention of development companies was focused on the second direction, however, for the implementation of NOMA in 5G and 6G systems, a number of problems were identified that require additional research. According to recent forecasts, data traffic in 6G networks will be hundreds of times greater than in 5G networks, with high requirements for energy efficiency and communication availability, which will require the use of new multiple access technologies. The article is devoted to an overview of the main schemes of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with code separation within the framework of 3GPP standardization. Various companies have proposed many NOMA schemes for 5G and 6G systems. The scope of application and the main advantages of NOMA technology are briefly illustrated. The most popular varieties of NOMA with code separation and their features are considered, the prospects and problems of their implementation are analyzed.

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate the connectivity and probability of successful radio reception in the Poisson model of a super-dense 5G radio access network formed by devices with the possibility of diagram formation based on positioning. The difference between the proposed model and existing prototypes is a comprehensive account of the gain factors of the devices, as well as the effect of radio wave propagation losses, slow and fast fading in the radio channel on the performance of the radio access network. Mathematical modeling of a set of simultaneously operating radio lines in the Poisson model of a super-dense 5G radio access network allows us to estimate the gain in connectivity indicators and the probability of successful radio reception during beam formation based on the preliminary positioning of devices compared with the case of non-directional antennas.

Abstract: The process of changing approaches to interactive marketing communications due to the development of 5G technology – high-speed data transmission over 5G wireless networks is considered. The main facts about 5G technology are presented, the impact of its introduction on consumer behavior, the penetration of augmented and virtual reality technologies into everyday human life and the change in the format of marketing communications in the following areas are considered: retail and delivery of goods, virtual spaces for work and business, mobile cloud gaming and streaming, art, street traffic and parking, public transport, pedestrian and bicycle traffic, weather conditions and energy supply. The key directions of development of interactive marketing communications with the arrival of 5G are considered: delivery of messages to any place and at any time, an increase in the number of connected devices, instant feedback, new formats and media. Conclusions are drawn regarding changes in interactive marketing communications: due to the ultra-high speeds of 5G, the loading time of the commercial will be greatly reduced, and the consumer experience at the level of using devices and applications will significantly improve. The most obvious technology that will gain a large market share with the spread of 5G is augmented reality technology. It will become not just a part of an unusual user experience, but a full-fledged and effective advertising campaign tool. Video content will gain undisputed leadership among other types of content in the advertising market. Targeting and personalization of content will become even more accurate and easier, advertising offers to potential buyers will be more personalized, it is also planned to transform advertising formats for audio messages and integrate voice assistants into various devices.

Abstract: Due to the rapid development of mobile networks and the growth of devices of various types connected to them, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of transmitted data becomes a top priority. The emergence of cryptocurrencies has led to renewed interest in blockchain technology and the possibility of its use in various fields. The article discusses the currently existing ways of using blockchain technology in 5G networks in order to solve security problems, network interaction and improve performance, as well as to develop new directions that expand the capabilities of services and applications in fifth-generation networks. The analysis of modern research works on the integration of blockchain technology and key technologies used in fifth-generation mobile networks is presented. Particular attention is paid to the options for using blockchain technology in cloud and edge computing, software-defined networks, virtualization of network functions, 5G slicing and direct interaction of devices. Based on the materials presented in the review, the possibilities that blockchain technology can provide to mobile networks and 5G services through the use of a decentralized architecture and a smart contract algorithm are listed.

Abstract: The article discusses the issues of possible formats of signals of 5G mobile communication networks (NR, IMT-2020): configurations of the number of resource blocks and frequency shifts of subcarriers, modulation schemes, organization of the physical layer, as well as broadband signals of these networks and, as a consequence, the need to introduce a margin for the linearity of the receiving and transmitting paths to eliminate distortion or manifestations of blocking effects in case of interference effects of this signal on third-party means. The characteristics of the dynamic range of signals of the land mobile service systems of the IMT-2020 standard are analyzed, and a conclusion is made about the noise similarity of the signals. The authors concluded that the probability distribution law of the instantaneous amplitude module of the 5th generation communication system signals corresponds to the distribution characteristic of narrowband radio noise. Based on the conducted research, the values of the peak factor of the signal of the land mobile service systems of the IMT-2020 standard for their various variations were obtained and a sufficient level of power reserve was determined to ensure, with a high probability, the passage of signals from fifth-generation mobile networks through radio paths, excluding signal distortion. The results obtained were applied during the examination of electromagnetic compatibility of radio-electronic means of cellular mobile communication with existing and prospective radio-electronic means of civil and special purposes, as well as in the study of the protection of satellite earth stations from the effects of radio-electronic means of cellular mobile telecommunication networks of the IMT-2020 standard, located in border areas.

Abstract: Due to the exponential increase in the traffic of transmitted mobile data and the need to provide a new generation of services, 5G technology has been created, which will change the high-tech sectors of the economy. The fifth-generation mobile communication has a high potential for implementation in the manufacturing sector, since it allows implementing Industry 4.0 scenarios. In this paper, 5G network technology and its main advantages are analyzed. Based on the analysis of a number of published works from foreign authors, the most promising options for the use of 5G in high-tech industries and the main challenges that hinder the wide dissemination of this technology are presented. The key strategic areas of application of 5G technologies and general recommendations for knowledge-intensive enterprises are proposed. The results of the study showed that the use of 5G technology will bring more advantages compared to wired networks. If current challenges are overcome, 5G technology will play a crucial role in the transition to digital production.

Abstract: The purpose of the work is to substantiate the methodology for assessing the intensity of the electromagnetic background created by a multitude of radiating mobile subscriber devices in multi–storey buildings. For well-known empirical models of radio wave propagation in buildings, expressions are obtained for the probability distribution density and the mathematical expectation of the power flux density of electromagnetic fields generated inside the building by these devices from various areas of the building's interior. The results can be used to analyze the electromagnetic ecology of premises and the electromagnetic safety of the population during the full-scale introduction of 4G/5G/6G mobile communications, as well as to analyze the electromagnetic compatibility of systems using mobile communication frequency bands on a primary and secondary basis.
