Abstract: The purpose of the monograph is to familiarize a wide range of readers with the basic concepts necessary to solve engineering problems in the field of nanobioelectronics. A systematic approach focused on the integration of physicotechnical and molecular biological directions in the study of nanobiosystems is presented. The concept of conjugated ion-hydrogen bond systems is described as the basis for the construction of bioorganic nanostructures and charge transfer channels, as well as its application to the construction of structural and functional models of nanobiostructures (catalysts, membranes and nanosensors). The theory of topological coding of chain polymers is presented, including ideas about the topological code, a system of physical operators and a molecular vector machine. The spatial structures of the genetic code and the canonical set of amino acids are proposed, the principles of creating sets of basic modules for self-organizing chain polymers are formulated. The possibilities of designing sensors, polymer catalysts and other biotechnical nanosystems, as well as medical therapy tools on this basis are discussed.

Abstract: The monograph is devoted to the problems of the actual field of science - development enigenetics. On the example of embryogenesis of lower vertebrates, the biochemical mechanism of self-organization of energetic free radical processes in early development is revealed. The hypothesis of the epigenetic program – the "energy pattern" of embryogenesis is proposed. New patented methods of testing the viability of reproductive material and assessing the embryotoxicity of the environment, developed on the basis of the author's fundamental research, are presented. These methods revealed a significant effect on the body of small and ultra-small doses of electromagnetic and chemical environmental factors, which, with a single exposure, can play an informational role, and with chronic use lead to abnormalities in the development and death of embryos. From the standpoint of the data obtained, the general properties of developing systems, the problems of inheritance of the dynamic picture of development and the significance of the revealed quasi-chaotic periods of development in the phenomena of competence, determination and sensitivity to external influences are discussed.

Abstract: For the past decade, new research fields utilizing microfluidics have been formed. General micro-integration methods were proposed, and the supporting fundamental technologies were widely developed. These methodologies have made various applications in the fields of analytical and chemical synthesis, and their superior performances such as rapid, simple, and high efficient processing have been proved. Recently, the space is further downscaling to 101–103nm scale (we call the space extended-nano space). The extended-nano space located between the conventional nanotechnology (100–101nm) and microtechnology (>1μm), and the research tools are not well established. In addition, the extended-nano space is a transient space from single molecules to bulk condensed phase, and fluidics and chemistry are not unknown. For these purposes, basic methodologies were developed, and new specific phenomena in fluidics and chemistry were found. These new phenomena were applied to unique chemical operations such as concentration and ion selection. The new research fields which are now being created are quite different from those in microspace. Unique devices are also increasingly being reported. In this book, we describe the fundamental technologies for extended-nano space and show the unique liquid properties found in this space and applications for single molecule or cell analysis. The research area is very new and hence, exciting. In contrast to other specialized areas, the research fields require wide knowledge (chemistry, fluidics, mechanics, photonics, biology etc.) and state-of-the-art technologies (bottom-up and top-down fabrication for various hard and soft materials, precise fluidic control, single molecule detection methods, and particle surface modification methods etc.), which have not been not covered by conventional review papers or books. Therefore, researchers or students new to the field need a new book covering these fields including recent research topics, applications and problems to be solved in the future.

Abstract: Nanomedicine is defined as the application of nanobiotechnology in clinical medicine, which is currently being used to research the pathomechanism of disease, refine molecular diagnostics, and aid in the discovery, development, and delivery of drugs. In The Handbook of Nanomedicine, Third Edition, Prof. Kewal K. Jain updates, reorganizes, and replaces information in the comprehensive second edition in order to capture the most recent advances in this dynamic field. Important components of nanomedicine such as drug delivery via nanobiotechnology and nanopharmaceuticals as well as nanooncology, where the greatest number of advances are occurring, are covered extensively. As this text is aimed at nonmedical scientists, pharmaceutical personnel, as well as physicians, descriptions of the technology involved and other medical terminology are kept as clear and simple as possible. In depth and cutting-edge, The Handbook of Nanomedicine, Third Edition informs its readers of the ever-growing field of nanomedicine, destined to play a significant role in the future of healthcare.

Abstract: It is shown that the extension of the model to the case of a periodic carbon nanotube (CNT) makes it possible to study the effects of the interaction of the nucleotide chain (NC) with gold nanoparticles (NP) in a more adequate and realistic approximation. A series of molecular dynamic (MD) calculations with different models of NC-LF-CNT was performed, the peculiarity of the molecular processes of NC-LF interaction due to the CNT matrix with periodic boundaries was investigated. The dependences of the total potential energy, angular and torsion (dihedral) intramolecular bonds of NC at different temperatures are also constructed. The structural and energy characteristics of the NC-LF-CNT system at the atomic and molecular level were analyzed.

Abstract: In recent decades, there is a sustained interest in the development of drug delivery systems based on bioactive and functional polymers such as poly(propylene glycol) (PEG), poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), poly(lactide acid) (PLA), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), poly(trimethylene carbonate) (PTMC) and poly(p-dioxanone) (PPDO). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved these polymers for biomedical applications due to their excellent biodegradability, biocompatibility and non-toxicity. The poly-hydroxy and -carboxy characteristics not only give them a supramolecular structure for drug loading, but also to incorporate drugs into the structure through chemical interactions. This chapter aims to present the molecular and physiochemical bases for the application of PEG and PLGA for functional delivery and controlled and targeted release of bioactive compounds.
